Lost At Sea

Morna Young’s Lost At Sea was a transformational project for me: it was the show where I truly found my home in Scottish theatre.

The show came two years after I’d relocated to Edinburgh from London, was only my second major Scottish show (the previous one having been Gagarin Way at Dundee Rep, which was the start of a homecoming process that would be cemented with Lost At Sea). I’d been doing a lot of commuting on planes, trains and the occasional automobile and starting to get larger-scale work in Scotland was something I’d been looking forward to.

Lost At Sea had everything I love in a show: it was large scale, with an immensely talented cast and a brilliant director in Ian Brown. It had music, physical theatre and I could almost taste the sea from the moment I read the script.

Karen Tennent and I were nominated for a CATS Award for our designs for Lost At Sea.
